RACAR is a general art history journal published by the Universities Art Association of Canada (UAAC). As the one general art history journal published in Canada, RACAR’s scope reflects the range and diversity of art history practices in Canada and internationally. The articles in RACAR cover all countries and periods, as well as the history of design. In addition to publishing reviews of recent books and exhibitions, RACAR also offer space for artists to present, reflect upon, and discuss their work, as well as a forum for current concerns, debates, and polemics in art history.

RACAR is published twice a year: a general issue in the spring and a guest-edited thematic issue in the fall. Articles are reviewed and approved by the journal’s editorial committee and external evaluators, and they must meet the standards of a respected academic journal with an international reputation. RACAR is archived at JSTOR, Érudit, and EBSCO. Learn more about article, review, and proposal guidelines.
